A doorway into the realm of the Serer ancestral spirits or Pangool that reside in the waters of Senegambia who act as a bridge between the land of the living and our ancestors. This work reaches through history, to a precolonial and preislamic time, to offer a new way of seeing, honoring, ourselves and each other, not as single individuals but as the sum of humanity, the sum of our collective histories. Glyphs etched, glowing on either side, represent the presence of the nameless on this plane and in a space unknown and unseen to us.
